I work from a waiting list, first come first served basis. A 50% non refundable deposit secures you a place on my waiting list. I can be booked months in advance so if you have a specific date in mind, please let me know.
I will send you regular photograph updates throughout the process so you can watch the portrait develop. Once you have received the final image of your portrait and you are happy with the end result the balance can be paid. Once I have received the balance payment, your portrait will be packaged and shipped.
Yes. It is necessary to provide good quality photographs via email to work from enabling me to create a realistic and highly detailed portrait capturing your pets character.
Get down with your pet! Ifind that the best reference photos tend to be when you have taken them at your pet's level. This can be done by crouching with the camera or raising your pet on a higher surface.
RESOLUTION
Most cell phones these days provide high enough resolution photos to work as a reference photo, however, you will want to send your picture directly from the photos on your phone. Photos from Facebook or similar sites where they have been uploaded and then saved or "screen shot" do not have good enough resolution.
Take several images at a time as pets can move quickly and you will want several to choose from.
Try to stand away from your pet approximately 2-6 feet. You will need to zoom in to ensure the subject fills the picture. If your phone has "portrait mode" this is an excellent option.
Ensure you get the desired stance photographed that you feel reflects your pet's personality best.
Try to get close shots of the nose and eyes. Having detail of these features makes all the difference to the final portrait.
Lighting is vital. Bright but diffuse light is best. This can be found beside an open window or door, outdoors in a wide area of shadow, morning or late after noon hours, and on cloudy days.
It’s best to keep the flash off when photographing your subject indoors. This often creates over exposure of fur and red/glowing eyes. Every painting evolves from the eyes so this is a very important point to remember.
Finally, give your good boy or girl a treat for doing their part during your photo shoot!
Privacy policy:
I will never share personal information disclosed by my clients to any third parties.
Copyright:
I retain copyright on all the artwork that I produce. Completed artwork will be displayed on my website and social media with the clients permission.
The responsibility for any reference photographs provided to me belongs to the client. If the photographs are taken by a third party (such as a professional photographer)my client must obtain their written permission before I can commence with your portrait. I ask for this written permission to then be forwarded to myself as proof and also to ensure I can credit the photographer where necessary.
I ship my portraits using USPS Priority Mail at this time. USPS Priority averages between $8-$30. Shipping fees will be added to the final payment. If you are local-within 15 miles, I am happy to meet you in person with your portrait at no charge.
Your portrait will be shipped matted and placed in a sealed acid free cellophane sleeve with a sheet of glassine to add further protection.
When you receive your portrait, please double mat it (or use the mat provided in shipping) and frame it behind glass (plastic causes static that can damage your portrait).
I advise hanging your portrait out of direct sun light and heat as they can have detrimental effects. Taking these into account when you receive your portrait will ensure their archival properties are maintained.
